How can a breast augmentation be performed?

Breast augmentations can be performed in a variety of ways, and your surgeon will be able to discuss which is best for you…

The incision for breast augmentation surgery can be placed in a number of areas, depending on the condition of the breast and the patient’s needs. The incision can be placed in the armpit (transaxillary), under the breast (inframammary) or around the nipple (periareolar).

The breast implant can be placed beneath the (chest wall/pectoral) muscles (submuscular/subpectoral pocket) or beneath the breast gland but above the pectoral muscle (subglandualr pocket) or a combination of both (Dual Plane).

The implants can be silicone or polyurethane or less commonly saline, and can be round or tear drop (anatomical) shaped and can be smooth or textured in their coating.

With many options to choose from, Dr Nguyen will discuss all aspects of your procedure with you for a fully customised treatment plan.

Who are the best candidates for a breast enlargement procedure?

Women who are unsatisfied with the size of their breasts are good candidates for a breast augmentation…

Women contemplating breast enlargements come from all walks of life. The main factors that will determine suitable candidacy for this procedure include if they:

  • Are unhappy with the size of their breasts
  • Are not pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Have realistic expectations for surgery results

Some women opt for a slight increase to their current breast size, forgoing larger breast implants so that clothes fit and look better.

Can women breast-feed after a Breast Enlargement?

There are studies which show complications with breast feeding after breast augmentation

Studies suggest a breast augmentation may reduce your ability to breast feed after the procedure by up to 50%. In turn, this may increase the need to supplement breast milk with formula.

Why do women choose breast reduction surgery?

From personal preference to medical necessity, there are several reasons why someone may consider breast reduction surgery…

For some people, large breasts have become a physical problem, resulting in on-going issues such as back ache or impaired movement. For others, having a more ample chest simply makes them feel uncomfortable socially. Other reasons include:

  • Physical problems
  • Low self-confidence
  • Asymmetry

What should I expect after liposuction surgery?

You will be given support garments which should be worn for at least three weeks.

These will help reduce swelling and help shrink the skin after the removal of fat. Most patients are able to return to work after seven days, and pain following the procedure is typically described as ‘bruise like’.

Procedures can vary depending on the person’s particular circumstances so it is best to discuss liposuction procedures and expected results with your surgeon.

What main signs of ageing can be addressed with cosmetic surgery?

At our Perth plastic surgery we can address several signs of ageing with our innovative treatments…

Fighting wrinkles

There are a number of ways to treat wrinkles, from a face lift that will tighten and smooth the skin to filler injections that relax wrinkle-causing muscles. Fillers are another non-surgical option, as these can plump up skin and fill in particularly deep grooves while dermabrasion is another alternative for smoothing minor wrinkles or other related imperfections, such as age spots.

Banishing baggy eyes

An eye lift or blepharoplasty is a way to treat eyelids which have become loose and saggy. Bags under the eyes and large, sagging eyelids above them can be an unfortunate sign of ageing, and eye lifts are a popular way to make eyes appear wider and younger.

Toning a saggy neck

Necks are another place where the signs of ageing tend to be most noticeable. Saggy skin, ‘turkey-wattles’ and a crepe effect are all things that can be addressed with the help of a neck lift. This can be done in conjunction with a face lift or on its own, and it’s also an effective way to create a more contoured jaw line.

Is rhinoplasty painful and will it reduce movement in my face?

During the procedure you will be sedated so there should be minimal discomfort…

Rhinoplasty should not cause any major discomfort. The procedure itself is performed either under general anaesthetic or local anaesthetic with sedation. There will be some discomfort after surgery as you heal, but you will be prescribed appropriate medication to alleviate it. Rhinoplasty should not affect the movement of your face so you will be free to move the cheeks/eyes as normal.

When do results appear after my Fraxel laser treatment?

The results of our Fraxel laser treatment are both immediate and progressive…

Soon after treatment, the surface of your skin will feel softer and smoother, look brighter and show a more even tone. The next 3 to 6 months should showcase more improvement as the deeper layers of the skin continue to create new collagen cells. Results are long lasting depending on your lifestyle, age, skin condition and skin care.
