What is liposuction?
Liposuction is the removal of excess fat with a suction cannula through small incisions. Fat can be removed from areas of excess such as the abdomen, flanks, thighs, arms, chin, knees and neck.
Liposuction is not an alternative to weight loss but can help recontour the body to a more shapely physique. The best candidates for liposuction have good skin elasticity that will re-shape easily.
It can be performed under local or general anaesthesia, usually as a day procedure. A special foam dressing is applied to the treated area, and a firm-fitting garment is worn to reduce the bruising and swelling that can occur after liposuction. It is recommended that a garment is worn full-time for at least 4-6 weeks after liposuction treatment.
Maintaining your new shape is just as important…
It is important to remember that undergoing a liposuction treatment is not going to eliminate the need to eat healthily and exercise regularly for the rest of your life. Liposuction will merely aid those in reshaping their bodies and move them a step in the right direction for achieving their goal weight. In order to maintain a healthy eating habit both during and after the recovery process of liposuction, it is important to know which foods are going to benefit your new figure best.
