Face and Neck Lift Perth WA

As we go through life many external factors take their toll on our face and necks – leaving us with deep wrinkles, lax skin and an aged appearance…

Unsatisfied with how your face is showing obvious signs of ageing? Smooth your facial skin with a face and neck lift – designed to improve the signs of ageing and give you a more youthful and invigorated appearance.

What is a face and neck lift?

The face and neck lift is a procedure that works to effectively tighten the skin for a more youthful and radiant look. Loose excess skin, fat deposits and underlying muscles in the face and neck (SMAS and Platysma), that have descended and attenuated with ageing, gravity, sun exposure, genetics and environmental stresses, are restored to create a more youthful appearance.

Depending on an individual’s facial structures and personal preferences, a face and neck lift can involve:

  • Tightening the underlying SMAS and Platysma
  • Removing excess fat from the neck
  • Recontouring the jawline
  • Restoring volume to areas that have lost volume with ageing such as the cheeks (malar eminences), brow and lips
  • Removing sagging skin

A facelift can be performed alone or in conjunction with other procedures to rejuvenate the face such as a brow lift, eyelid surgery or laser resurfacing. Dr Nguyen will discuss the details of the procedure during your consultation and how she will help you recreate a fresh and natural rejuvenated appearance.

A recent study published online in the Archives of Facial Plastic Surgery in February 2012* demonstrated that a facelift in conjunction with upper and lower eyelid rejuvenation surgery and a brow lift definitely resulted in a younger appearance. Of the 60 patients who had undergone a facelift alone or in combination with eyelid and brow surgery, they were perceived to look 7 years younger after surgery!

What should I expect from my consultation?

Dr Anh and her cosmetic consultants will spend about 45 minutes with you to gain a better understanding of why you are seeking facial rejuvenation, what results you want to achieve from the face/neck lift and what your expectations are of having the procedure. Dr Anh will obtain a medical and surgical history and then examine you.

Thereafter, she will discuss with you what options are available to you (type of face/neck lift, scars etc.), complications and implications if a complication were to occur, the steps that will be taken to minimise these complications, the aftercare and expected postoperative recovery.

Long-term results of face lifts

A study in the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Journal in October 2010 by Owsley et al* found high patient satisfaction 1 year and 10-15 years after facelift surgery. 1 year after a SMAS/Platysma face-lift, 97.8 percent described an improvement in their facial appearance that was good or had exceeded expectations. After an average follow-up of 12.6 years, 68.5 percent felt the results were good and had exceeded their expectations and felt they looked 10 years younger after a face lift.
